Despite our small population, the Territory has an abundance of writers and a lively literary scene. The NT Writers' Centre has 350 members throughout the Northern Territory, who range from hobby writers to published authors. Whatever your writing interests or experience, the NT Writers' Centre can offer you advice and point you in the right direction. We can also assist members to set up writing projects in their communities. Our current goals are to maintain a diverse program of literary activities in the Northern Territory, while embarking on new initiatives to encourage and support the development of young writers (16-30 years), Indigenous writers, and writers from non English speaking backgrounds.

'The aim of this book is to completely inspire people who have no interest in food to have a go' - Jamie Oliver. Sixty years ago food was in short supply and malnutrition rates were high. The Ministry of Food was set up to teach the public how to make the best use of the food available to them. Fast forward to the present day, where we have unlimited choices and plenty of food, yet we're living in a world of junk food, additives and preservatives. Our war is now against obesity, as most people have little or no idea about how to cook and what makes a balanced diet. We need to learn from the past.

The Dymocks George Street store is Sydney's greatest bookstore. Our story begins in 1879 when William Dymock commenced business as a bookseller in a rented room in Market Street. As his business grew, he moved to a larger and grander premises until, in the 1890's he could claim to have a million books in stock. William Dymock died in his thirty-ninth year. Unmarried and childless, he left the business to his sister Marjory, who was married to John Forsyth. From that time onwards, the Forsyth family has managed Dymocks.
