Airport Roads Travel Chicago

As one of the most populous cities of United States of America, Chicago is very well connected with the other cities in the same continent as well as the other parts of the world.

Chicago is a very famous travel destination for many people. Thousands and thousands of tourists visit Chicago every month. The well developed tourism industry is one major segment of gross production for the Chicago urban area.

There is more than one airport serving this city. These airports are located in different parts of the city. The urban area of Chicago is a huge one. The density of population is high, thus the city actually needs more than one airport. These air ports are well connected with the city through roads and rail way network. If you reach Chicago through any of these air ports, you will not face any problem in reaching the main town area.

O’Hare International airport of Chicago is one of the busiest in the world. This airport is located towards the North West of Chicago. Midway international airport is located towards the south of the city. There is another international airport which is serving the city of Chicago. This airport is called Gary/Chicago international airport. When the pressure on O’Hare international is too much, a fourth air port, Chicago/ROCKFORD International airport is also used.

 In normal circumstances this airport receives cargo flights. Earlier, Chicago had another airport as well. It was called as Meigs Field airport and it was located near the Lake Michigan. It was demolished as the land was needed for development in 2003. All these airports are connected through road network to Chicago urban area. The Interstate highways also connect these airports with the other cities which are located near by.  

The interstate highways which are located around and near Chicago are generally names after famous politicians. The numeric name is rarely used. There are 9 interstate highways present there which link the airports of Chicago to other cities. The most famous one is the Kennedy Expressway. Actually it is interstate highway 90. It connects O’Hare International with the surrounding area. Interstate highway 90/94 is also called as Dan Ryan Express way. This highway is connected to Bishop Ford Freeway and Eden’s Expressway.

There are some other roads as well, which connect the international airports of Chicago to the city as well as to the other parts of the continent. These Interstate highways include Tri-State Toll way, Reagan Memorial and O’Hare extension. Road network as well as rail routes from these airports can take you to the city center. The airports are related relatively towards the outer side of the city. You need to move towards the city center by rail routes or road networks to find accommodation in Chicago.
