Schools in Cambridge
“Preston Public School” is one of the schools in Cambridge. This school was built in 1889 and for many years was the leader in what schools should be.
They dealt with economic issues to overcome obstacles such as out of date books and over crowding. Its original name was “Central Public School“. When Preston and Galt amalgamated to become what is now known as Cambridge, the name of the school was changed to “Preston Public School“. In all there are 26 elementary and 5 secondary schools in Cambridge.
Schools in Cambridge have amongst them Ontario’s oldest continuously running high school. It is over 150 years old and still going strong. This is the “Galt Collegiate Institute and Vocational School“. It is often called “The Castle On The Grand,” because of its structural beauty. The catholic school board oversees 15 elementary and 2 secondary schools as well.
In addition there is one French catholic high school to be found here in the region. There are plenty of schools to service the entire city of Cambridge. In the past Cambridge has struggled with literacy issues but these have been addressed by the various schools throughout the city. The schools in Cambridge employ well educated teachers that are capable of meeting the student’s needs.
