South Shore Regional Library

The library region, the youngest of the nine in the province, was formed in 1972 by the Town of Bridgewater, the Town of Lunenburg, and the Town of Mahone Bay. The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg joined in 1973, and the Municipality of Chester in 1978. The former Municipality of the County of Queens and the former Town of Liverpool (now part of the Region of Queens Municipality), joined in 1976 and 1981 respectively.

Halifax Regional Library was created April 1, 1996 from a merging of the Halifax City, Halifax County and Dartmouth Regional Libraries.
