What to See in Calgary
What’s to see in Calgary is naturally going to be the “Calgary Stampede”. People travel from all over the world for this spectacular event.
This event is almost a 100 years old and is billing itself as the greatest outdoor show on earth. It really is a gigantic agricultural fair that runs for 10 days, but it has some really exciting events taking place. The top of the list being the rodeo, followed by the chuck wagon races.
You will want to enjoy the midway as well. No doubt you will want to have a least a couple days to spend at this event.What’s to see in Calgary has got to include the zoo. Yes there are zoos in almost any location, but this particular zoo is really well stocked with over a 1,000 different animals from all over the world.
Throughout Calgary there are some very beautiful parks that really do fall under the what’s to see in Calgary. It is nice when visiting a location to take in some of their natural beauty as well, such as you will see throughout these parks. Try to not miss out on a visit to “Fort Calgary Historic Park“. You will find much of Calgary’s most interesting history laid out here.
Bowness Park
On any mild winter day, the frozen lagoon in this park is filled with skaters. An open expanse of ice with smaller tributaries that wind off out of view, the man-made lagoon is great for youngsters just learning to skate, or others who need to burn some energy. A fire burning in the on-ice pit warms chilled hands. Canoes, foot-powered watercraft rentals, a miniature train ride, mini-golf, carnival rides, a kiddie spray pool, playground and sports fields are all available in the summer.

Heritage Park Historical Village
Canada's largest living historical village is divided into a pioneer Northwest Mounted Police outpost and a 1910 Main Street. The latter has a working antique amusement park, with rides that are safe even for small children. Other attractions include a working full-scale locomotive thundering through the park, and on nearby Glenmore Reservoir, a vintage double-decker stern wheeler ship that takes visitors on lake cruises.

Spruce Meadows
One of the world's great equestrian facilities is located in the rolling ranch lands just south of Calgary's city limits. Built and maintained by the Southern family, this sprawling site is now home to some of the world's top show-jumping events. The facilities are also a year-round attraction for horse-lovers and aspiring competitive riders. Competition occurs on six different grass rings, including the main venue that pulls in more than 30,000 spectators for events.

Calgary Zoo
It features more than 1,100 animals from around the world and an ever-growing portfolio of innovative exhibitions, which allows guests to get up close and personal with grizzly bears, moose and wolves. Life-sized dinosaur models lurk in the badlands of the Prehistoric Park, and the more genteel setting of the botanical park includes a butterfly garden.
