Bars in Calgary

When it comes to choosing a bar to have a great night of fun at, it just means choosing a theme in Calgary.

The bars in Calgary really like to center their atmospheres around a theme and line this up with the type of entertainment and foods they offer. Let’s take a look at some of the western bars. To start with there is the “Ranchman” this place is as big as a barn and offers real live music. It reported that this is where all the real cowboys hang their hats.

Then there’s “Cowboys”. This is a good spot to go to for an ice cold beer and a bit of friendly conversation. The bars in Calgary are not all centered around the cowboy theme. How about something a little different like a Martini Bar. If this sounds interesting then head off to the “Auburn Saloon“.

Apparently they really whip of some unusual martini’s here. Nobody can resist a good old pub. The bars in Calgary have their fair share of pubs that are noted for serving some excellent old Irish whiskey. Now that’s got to be tempting to even the non Irish. There is a great selection of bars in Calgary. It’s an excellent city to go bar hopping in.

Kensington Pub

A little respite from the biting winds of Calgary winters can be found inside the cozy crannies of this pub. Built on three levels with a dining area, bar and loft, there's plenty of choice in seating arrangements and noise levels. Traditionalists' dreams come true with this homey establishment's exposed beams set in white plastered walls and sturdy oaken furniture, along with its selection of 10 specialty beers and ales. The air is relatively smoke-free, without the choking cloud often present in busy pubs.

Ceili's Irish Pub & Restaurant

At happy hours, particularly on the weekend, the crowd is shoulder to shoulder and spilling out to the sidewalk at this wildly popular Irish pub and eatery in downtown's south end. Much of the crowd is there to pull pints of Kilkenny, Caffrey's and, of course, Guinness. But there's also moderately priced food to be had, from traditional Irish dishes like Salmon Boxty (a stuffed potato pancake, CAD10), to more contemporary Canadian pub food. The pub features four floors of fun, with Cottage, Gaelic, Victorian and pub theme areas, along with a rooftop terrace.
