Shopping in Banff

Even shopping in Banff is an attraction in itself. The very first spot to head to for a shopping excursion is Bear Street.

Once here you will find Bison Courtyard. The history behind Bear Street is very interesting. Many years ago Bison were found to herd along this street. In fact when the courtyard was under construction, two bison skulls were unearthed, hence the name Bison Courtyard. Now you know a bit of the history of Bison Courtyard, you may be ready to do a bit of shopping there. For shopping of a little different nature you may want to try “The Three Wild Woman” along with the interesting name comes.

The unique and interesting items you will find in this boutique. They carry a little bit of everything from clothes to accessories and gifts.Shopping in Banff also means a trip to “Cascade Plaza“. Here you will pretty much find every type of retail store you may be interested in. There are a variety of separate clothing shops for the ladies such as “Miriam Joy“, or “Boulder  Men’s Wear” for the men and then of course for the kids, there is “La Cache“. There are also many other types of conveniences to be found here and enjoy when shopping in Banff.

Cascade Plaza

Part of an international chain of restaraunts, the OSF provided us with more than we could eat and was easily the best value for our money we had the whole time, food-wise.Situated in a small indoor mall, the restaurant had fast and friendly service, a pleasing variety of food, mountains of pasta and sourdough bread, and all of it was tasty. With its central location in Banff and the allure of the amazing shopping opportunities along the street, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Brewster's Mountain Lodge

Before the Irish famine in the 1840’s, William Brewster managed the Irvine Estate in Irvine, Fernanagh, Erie. James Irvine, a friend & a doctor, had immigrated to Canada & encouraged his friend William to come to Canada. Sarah Jane Irvine followed her brother soon after to Kingston, ON. Here it was that Sarah Jane, an heiress to land Brewster Family History holdings in Ireland, married the manager William Brewster, and while farming in Ontario raised eight children.
