The coast of Boston is its identity. Most of Boston’s history relies on the fact that Boston was the first stop when you cross the Atlantic Ocean from Europe. Most of the city’s leisure and entertainment life is dependant upon the sea. There can be lots of choice when it comes to having fun near the sea. A full day trip to the sandy beaches of the north or south of Boston can be fun, or day trips to the nearby port towns of Gloucester, Salem, Rockport or Marblehead. These are the best trips you can plan while touring Boston and enjoying the experiences of the real seaside city.
If you are more of the history loving type, it would be a great idea to go out to Lexington, Concord and Sudbury to meet the young patriotic Americans. You can go down the memory lane by starting at Lexington, where the start of the American Revolution is depicted. You can visit the Heritage Museum nearby for a more detailed depiction. After Lexington, Concord is the next stop, where you can see the Minute Man Historical Park. Here in Concord, you can visit several historical houses of famous literary figures like Ralph Waldo Emerson. For a scrumptious lunch or dinner, visit the Longfellow’s Wayside Inn for a delicious pot roast.
