Almost all major airlines land at Logan Airport from all cities around AMERICA. International flights form Europe also land at Boston’s Logan Airport. These airlines include, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, Air France, Swiss Airways, Alitalia, and KLM. These airlines may use a stop over before reaching Boston.
While arriving from within the country, train travel is a good option too. Amtrak, which arrives at the South station, provides a convenient travel, arriving by train allows you easy access to downtown destinations, as you can easily get public transits from here.It takes almost three and a half hours to reach New York from Boston through train. Philadelphia will take another 2 more hours on the Acela Express, which is a very comfortable, high speed train. Another Amtrak train, is the Lake Shore Limited, which runs between Boston and Chicago. This train is not very speedy, but it is cheaper and at $75 per trip, gives you a good ride in your budget.
Bus travel may take a bit longer, but there are a number of bus services, which depart at a convenient time difference which makes it easy for on the spot travel plans. If you want to drive your own car to Boston, you will have to keep track of the two major highways, the I-90 and the I-93. Highway I-90 enters from the North and South end of the city. It is a toll road and you will have to pay $1 while entering from here. The I-90 enters Boston city from the West side. Car rentals are also available at the airport, where you can rent cars at hourly basis.
However, for tourists, it is more advisable to use train or bus services when arriving at Boston. Driving is quite confusing for new people with narrow roads and one way streets. The best option to take is the transit system, commonly referred to as ‘T’ by the locals. Boston is a very dense city, and is just right for walking and cycling. Locals usually prefer the transit system for commuting from one point to another, as it is much cheaper and very convenient.
