Boston Shopping Centers

Boston has a number of big shopping areas to entertain tourists. Some of the market places are even especially dedicated to tourists.

For tourists who like to shop under one roof and like indoor shopping there are great malls worth visiting. The largest shopping areas inside the Metro area are the Downtown and Back Bay.

There are a number of big shopping malls to shop at, some of them are:

The Cambridge Galleria, this mall consists of several department stores, clothing stores, best buy, bookstores and a restaurant. The shops in this mall offer regular retail prices which are usually affordable for everyone.

Copley Palace and Prudential Center, these two malls are interconnected by a pedestrian walkway at the Huntington Avenue. These malls are a bit steep on the pocket with stylish shops. The malls contain a number of restaurants, bookstores, designer clothing stores, food courts and the place is nearby several big hotels, which makes them accessible for tourists.]

Apart from the wonderful shopping malls, there are outdoor shopping streets and districts containing huge shopping areas for tourists who like outdoor shopping, and also who like to see the neighborhoods along with shopping. There are number of commercial areas with busy and colorful shops.

Newbury Street, this shopping area is as large as the Back Bay neighborhood. Newbury Street is a historic avenue with colored brownstones, which gives shopping a unique old age experience. The place contains many upscale shops and diners. The street has expensive shops near to the Boston Commons area, but the shops become affordable towards the Massachusetts Ave. Newbury Street is a crowded shopping area, therefore, the traffic can be very slow.

Downtown Crossing, This shopping area located in the Downtown Boston is at an arms length from the Boston Commons. The most famous Filene’s Basement is located here. There is also the Bargain Alley, where you can find great bargains at amazingly low prices. It is a busy store with narrow aisles, so it usually gets pretty crowded. The other Downtown Crossing shopping area consists of music stores, Macy’s, large number of street vendors, souvenir shops, retail stores and snack bars.

Coolidge Corner, situated at the Harvard Street, the shopping area is nearby the neighboring Brookline town. It gives a look of the village shops, with a lesser urban touch. The corner theatre shows some excellent art house movies. It is a convenient walk to Allston Brighton from Coolidge Corner along Harvard Street for more dining and shopping.
