One of the most unusual and interesting bars in the center of Vienna, this very dark, sometimes mysterious bar was designed by the noteworthy architect Adolf Loos in 1908. At the time, it functioned as the drinking room of a private men's club, but today it's more democratic, and welcomes a mostly bilingual crowd of very hip singles from Vienna's arts-and-media scene.

Castillo is an American bar that was opened in 1995. Since its opening it has built up a healthy and lasting reputation as a classy hangout amongst a somewhat chic clientele. A visitor to this bar has two choices: one could pull up a pew at the longest bar in Vienna (surrounded by hundreds of spirit bottles) and wait to be served by a member of their highly talented bar staff, or simply make oneself comfortable at one of the many tables. But be warned, once you're planted, you won't want to move, even in the unikely case that your drink doesn't appear on time!
