Amsterdam Tourist Attractions

Amsterdam offers a diverse range of amusement and historic sights that vary from intriguing old buildings such as the Oude Kerk, which is an old church with its Gothic renaissance bell tower, and old museums, like the Hash Marihuana. Museums are the biggest tourist attractions in Amsterdam. The best known tourist attractions in Amsterdam are the Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk museum and the Van Gogh museum.

But this is not all; Amsterdam is home to around fifty museums, which are the basis of millions of tourists visiting Amsterdam every year. Dam square is considered to be the center of Amsterdam; it is a historical place with centuries of history associated to it. The Royal Palace, which is situated in the square, was initially used as town hall with its classical fascia was aimed to elevate Amsterdam’s beauty. Begijnhof is a fascinating garden enveloped by old houses.

The houses were once home to devout nuns and are still occupied by single women. Amsterdam has numerous canals passing through the city; therefore, a boat cruise is a mandatory part of a visit to Amsterdam. The canals are both relaxing and fascinating during the day time, and are enchanting and romantic by the night time. The main canals in the city’s center are the Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht, and Singel.Apart from several beautiful canals, Amsterdam has some 1280 or more bridges. Out of all these bridges, Magere Brug, popularly known as the skinny bridge is most popular. The bridge opens every twenty minutes in order to let boats pass through. Jordaan, a colorful, culturally vibrant area, with students, businessmen, and artistic professionals inhibiting the area. The area is full of café’s, unique shops and art galleries. The streets in Jordaan connect to the three main canals of the city.

Rembrandtplein, a hub of restaurants, pubs, hotels and café’s, is the most sought after tourist attraction. It is most popular for its nightlife and contains many original Dutch café’s and pubs. In the center of the area is located a small park where the statue of Rembrandt is built. Leidseplein square is another very popular area with countless café’s and quality night clubs. It is center of nightlife and is full of vigor and fun till the early hours of the day.

The Albert Cuyp market is the biggest and full of activity market in the whole of Europe. Artis Zoo is the oldest zoo of the country. It is comprised upon four areas, the zoo, the Botanical Garden, the Planetarium and the Zoological museum.

Vondelpark is the most popular park in Holland; it gets almost ten million visitors every year. Hortus Botanicus, is the oldest botanical garden worldwide. Amsterdam Windmills are a very popular tourist attraction, there are eight beautiful windmills situated in the center of Amsterdam
